Ecoart: Vision, Imagination, & Place

PSUEcoartSlds29_36.002The artists talked with many stakeholders in the community: city officials, residents, non-profits, and businesses and asked “what are the assets and challenges of your city?” What they heard was: ‘McKeesport needs a vision for the future and our youth need opportunities’ To address these concerns, the artists pieced together a comprehensive vision of McKeesport’s waterfront, based on what they were told. To communicate that vision, they created a visitor’s brochure set in the year 2020, when the vision would be realized: A beautiful park and plaza at the confluence of the two rivers, use of historic buildings along the riverfront that acted as gateways to the McKeesport section of the trail, and a Youth Program to engage youth in realizing the vision.
