Dr. Wu received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Oklahoma in May 2012. His area of scholarship lies in international economics and public economics. He is interested in the effect of foreign investment on local economies and the role of public policies in this type of investment. His research area is the effect trade with China has on New Hampshire. In terms of exports, China is New Hampshire’s third largest trading partner.
Currently, Dr. Wu teaches Macro, Microeconomics and Survey of Economics, and hopes to teach a new economics elective, “The Chinese Economy,” in the near future.
Chen’s spouse is Hui Cao (曹晖 – “whey tao”) which means “Sunshine.” The literal translation of her first name is “Sunshine” so her English name is “Sunny”. She is also from Kaifeng, but attended Zhengzhou University where she studied Chinese language and literature. Her Master’s degree is in World Comparative Literature.
Chen’s outside interests include Chinese Folk Art, Ping Pong, swimming, and he plays guitar for fun. Sunny likes reading and traditional Chinese paper cutting.
