The 2 Pillsbury Street Graduate Site in Concord: Expanding PSU’s Presence in a Growing Market

In December 2006, the College of Graduate Studies opened a new site at 2 Pillsbury Street in Concord, NH. Designed to meet the needs of the graduate learning community and conveniently located in the state’s capital, the off-campus site has been an extremely popular option for graduate students. Since opening, over 800 students have attended classes at the Concord site. This overwhelmingly positive response motivated us to explore the possibility of expanding our presence in Concord.

The 2 Pillsbury Street Graduate Site in ConcordWe are pleased to report that we have recently secured additional classroom space in the 2 Pillsbury Street building. The new space includes two classrooms (534 and 908 square feet, respectively), which can be opened to form one large room accommodating 75 students, a reading lesson observation room, faculty office space, and a snack and drink machine. All of the classrooms have both hard wired and wireless internet connections with media carts for computer and video presentations. The new classrooms will allow us to offer up to six classes per night during each of the four terms.

We continue longstanding partnerships with the New Hampshire Association of School Principals and the New Hampshire Association of Special Education Administrators through shared office space. Both organizations now house their main offices at 2 Pillsbury Street. A partnership with the New Hampshire Department of Education provided grant funding for the reading lesson observation room which is intended for training and certifying reading teachers.

If you happen to be in Concord, please take some time to say hello to our graduate site coordinators, Jane Lacasse and William (Bill) Marston. Jane and Bill are well known and respected retired New Hampshire school administrators. They are on-site to assist professors and students with classroom set up and advising.

This coming spring will be an exciting time! I invite you to explore what our Concord site and the surrounding area has to offer.
