HR Communication: 2016 Benefit Savings up to $400 – MyPath2Wellness

Status Benefits Eligible staff members who participate/complete both the Biometric Screening on campus (Sept. 22, 23 or 24) and the Health Questionnaire (by October 30) will receive up to a $400 premium credit toward their 2016 Harvard Pilgrim employee medical plan cost.

Plymouth State University and Harvard Pilgrim are committed to supporting your efforts to become or stay healthy. As part of that support, our USNH MyPath2Wellness program is designed to engage you in health improvement, while providing a valuable incentive.

To complete MyPath2Wellness, follow these two simple steps:

Step 1 – Know Your Numbers Sign up for your screening time here!
If you know your numbers, you can take steps to keep these indicators in a healthy range and lower your risk for disease. Our workplace screenings make it easy to obtain key biometric numbers for: Blood pressure, Glucose (sugar level), Cholesterol, Weight/body mass index (BMI) measures and Tobacco use.

Step 2 – Complete the online Health Questionnaire (HQ) Complete the HQ
It takes about 30 minutes to complete the secure and confidential HQ, and you instantly receive a personalized health profile. You will have the option to complete this at the biometric screening for you choose. However in order to complete the HQ you would need to have your personalized “USERNAME” and “PASSWORD” that come with the home mailing from Harvard Pilgrim.  THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT…do not this discard this information!

Healthy PSU announces the first “Coffee Time” with a survivor on September 16!

Healthy PSU is hosting “Coffee Time” with survivors on preventative health topics starting in September. Join us for some coffee/tea and light refreshments in the Lamson Library, Tower Room.

ABOUT COFFEE TIMES: The purpose of “Coffee Time” is to provide awareness information to a targeted audience. Building awareness about preventative health topics for you and/or your family members may save a life!

Healthy PSU 60-Day Passport to Health Walking Adventure

Come visit the staff at Human Resources M-F between 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. to pick up a passport!

New this year we will be offering a 60-Day “Passport to Health” WALKING ADVENTURE! Passports will be available on June 3 and will feature 13 routes, 17.5 miles and 35,000 steps to better health. This walking adventure will run June 3-August 1, 2015.  Once you have completed all the routes, simply return your passport to the Human Resources office, MSC #14 and you will be recognized on the “Healthy PSU Wall of Walkers!”

May 15th is Bike to Work Day at PSU

May 15th is Bike to Work Day at PSU; and what better way to celebrate the warm weather than an enjoyable bike ride. Biking is an easy way to get the recommended 150 minutes of physical activity. Your commute could become the best part of your day!

Check out some of these reasons why you should bike to work:

  1. Reduce stress by bicycling
  2. Save money on gas
  3. Biking to work is an easy way to get to get the recommended day amount of cardio activity!
  4. Don’t worry about finding a parking spot! Use the bike racks on campus!
  5. Enjoy our beautiful Plymouth outdoors.

If you are unable to bike to work, consider incorporating it into your weekend.

To celebrate National Bike Week, grab your kids and take a bike ride around your neighborhood.

Healthy PSU Walks NH REUNION! Rain or Shine

HealthyPSUWalk614 001Let’s take a fun walk with colleagues, students, family members and friends across campus while working on wellness together!

Team registration is now open (no team is too big or too small). Register by May 21st to receive a free all-new Healthy PSU t-shirt!

Three walking routes of varying lengths will be available on walk day from the  HUB Point-of-Decision map. Each route will have a designated Healthy PSU Champion leading the way. You can choose to walk 1/2 mile on the Campus Core (yellow route), 1 mile (blue route) or 2 mile (orange route).

The goal of Walk NH Week is to inspire participants to continue walking as part of a healthy lifestyle long after the June event ends. This yearly event aligns perfectly with the work of Healthy PSU; one focus is to encourage people to get active.

March 26 – 1 Day Challenge Tobacco-Free PSU

In New Hampshire tobacco use continues to be the leading cause of preventable death with 1,900 lives lost each year.  Resulting in $729 Million dollars spent on smoking–related health care costs annually. Colleges and universities across the state are committed in their continued work to prevent college youth from using tobacco products, eliminating exposure to secondhand smoke, and helping those already addicted to the nicotine in tobacco products to quit, and stay quit. USNH Tobacco-Free Campus Initiative.

On Thursday, March 26, 2015 Plymouth State University will participate in a 1-Day Challenge Tobacco-Free PSU! Event Flyer

This event will engage students, faculty and staff in ways that promote healthy behaviors that include nutrition, physical activity and stress reduction while providing tobacco education and cessation resources.

We would like to gain a better understanding of how the campus views tobacco use and secondhand smoke: Take the PSU Tobacco Survey by Midnight on March 13th!
