Denise Normandin has been in the health and wellness field for nearly 20 years in a variety of settings from program management to public health. She brings nutrition and health promotion expertise to her role as Program Manager for Plymouth State University’s Healthy PSU organizational health and wellness campaign. Denise gained her valuable clinical nutrition experience from LRGHealthcare, Laconia, New Hampshire and Huggins Hospital, Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. While at Huggins Hospital, she managed outpatient nutrition services as well as engaged the community and employees in health and wellness activities. Denise also served as the Program Manager for Quality Improvement Initiatives for the American Heart Association (AHA), Northeast Affiliate where she successfully managed the Get With The Guidelines™ New England pilot project creating in-hospital continuous quality system improvements for Coronary Artery Disease which expanded to a National program.
Denise is currently enrolled in the Master of Arts (MA) in Personal and Organizational Wellness at Plymouth State University with a concentration in Organizational Approaches to Transformation and Healing (OATH). She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from Colorado State University (CSU) in Fort Collins, Colorado and completed the dietetic internship requirements at Keene State College of the University System of New Hampshire. She was a member of the Keene State Owls Division III field hockey team. While an undergraduate, Denise worked as a pastry chef for a European bread shop and as a food science research assistant at CSU. This research work was published and she was nominated for the American Dietetic Association Dietetic Student of the Year Award. Denise also completed a sports nutrition practicum with the Colorado State Rams, Division I football team.
She is a Registered Dietitian through the Commission on Dietetics Registration (CDR) and a Licensed Dietitian through the State of New Hampshire. Denise has achieved Certificates of Training in several areas; Weight Management for Adults and Child/Adolescents from the CDR, ServSafe™ Food Safety Manager from the National Restaurant Association and Women’s Game-Level I & Level II Coaching through the U.S. Lacrosse Coaching Education Program.
Denise has a passion for helping individuals live healthier lives through better nutrition, active lifestyles and holistic health. This is demonstrated by her commitment to promoting a culture of well-being at PSU. In 2014, Denise was recognized by the Wellness Council of America (WELCOA) as one of the Top 100 Health Promotion Professions in the United States. Denise resides in the Lakes Region with her husband and four children where she enjoys healthy cooking, gardening, reading, hiking, skiing, yoga and most of all…watching her kids participate in their sporting events and coaching youth lacrosse!
