Annual PSU Student Juried Exhibit 2019

Highlighting the strength, energy, passion, and technical skill of our PSU art students, this annual exhibition features the best efforts of students from all levels of art making. Through exploration and experimentation inside and outside the classroom, this exhibition includes a wide variety of media from drawing, painting, photography, and video to graphic design, sculpture, and mixed media.

What is personhood? How is identity constructed and how does it travel across time and space and memory? What are the echoes of a life? How are we all connected? Artists from multiple genres and media will share found objects and archival materials from a common source, as well as new individual and collaborative work created around/in response to those objects and materials. This collaborative exhibit features four PSU faculty members who are practicing artists.

Highlighting new and recent work by Plymouth State University Art faculty members, this exhibit introduces the campus and community to the innovative explorations going on in faculty studios. The exhibit shines a light on the current and exceptional art being made by PSU Art Faculty members.

From the Seacoast: Barn Gallery Comes to Plymouth

The Ogunquit Art Association celebrates its 90th year of gathering together and exhibiting artwork by Maine and New Hampshire based artists. A vibrant mixture of paintings, printmaking, drawing, and photography, this exhibit will highlight the excellence and diversity of these professional artists.

Spotlight on the Museum Collection: Sharing the Mountains

Featuring viewbooks, stereoviews, photographs, glass plate negatives from the MWM collection, as well as stories about how MWM is archiving, digitizing, and sharing the region’s cultural history.

Chris Kressy, Life as Art

Celebrating the local artist’s life with a selection of the meditative, and vibrant paintings by Christopher Kressy (1936-2016). A color-filled feast that will enrich and inspire. An active faculty member at PSC/PSU from 1968 to his retirement in 1998, Kressy coordinated the painting program, served as department chair and was instrumental in the creation of the BFA studio degree.

Making Work: Plymouth’s Creative Economy

Who are the creative workers who enrich our community? How do the arts and creative workers impact local businesses and the region’s economy? How could a collaboration between the arts and businesses help the future of the Plymouth region? This participatory exhibition invites input and ideas that can be woven into a larger plan for the region.
