“Viva, Italia” April 1 at Plymouth State University

The Plymouth State University Symphonic Band will host Viva, Italia! Sunday,April, 1 at 3 p.m. at the Silver Center for the Arts.

Professor Gary Corcoran will lead the PSU ensemble in well-known concert music from Italy. Included on the program are “Trieste Overture” by Pietro, Deiro, “Toccata” by Girolamo Frescobaldi, “Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana” by Pietro Mascagni, “Barber of Seville Overture” by Gioacchino Rossini, “Nessun Dorma” by Giacomo Puccini, “Pines of the Appian Way” by Ottorino Respighi, and “Funiculi, Funicula” by Luigi Denza.

Trumpet soloist, James Boccia, will join the Symphonic Band in a performance of “Carnival of Venice.”

The Manchester West High School Band, conducted by Diane Francoeur and Becky Gagnon, will appear as PSU’s special guests and will open the concert with “A Festival Prelude” by Alfred Reed, “First Suite in E-flat” by Gustav Holst, and “Les Miserables, Selections” by Claude-Michel Schonberg.

Tickets are $6 for adults and youth, $5 for seniors at the Silver Cultural Arts Center Box Office (603-535-ARTS).
