PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The National Field Hockey Coaches Association has announced its 1999 Division III National Academic Squad, and three members of the Plymouth State College team were named to the prestigious team.
Senior Tracy Noyes (Plymouth, NH), junior Courtney O’Sullivan (East Kingston, NH) and sophomore Sacha Jackson (Sangerville, Maine) were PSC’s representatives on the NFHCA National Academic Squad. It is the first such selection for O’Sullivan and Jackson, while Noyes was honored for the second consecutive year.
Noyes has maintained a strong grade point average as a physical education major, while O’Sullivan is studying business marketing and Jackson is majoring in interdisciplinary studies. Noyes anchored a Panther defense that allowed just 1.75 goals per game, while Jackson was second on the team in scoring with five goals and two assists.
The three were starters and/or regulars on PSC’s team that finished with a 7-11 overall record under second-year coach Abby Burbank. The Panthers had a better team than the record indicated, as the team dropped six games by just one goal, including three in overtime.
