PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The star catcher on the 2000 Plymouth State College baseball team has been selected to the Division III All-New England Team, and has been invited to play
in a collegiate all-star game.
Freshman Matt Tupman (Concord, NH) was named to the New England Region Division III American Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Third Team. He is scheduled to join
other Division III all-stars in a match-up against NAIA all-stars on June 3rd in Norwich, Conn.
Tupman was a First Team All-Little East Conference selection for the Panthers this spring. He is the first All-New England player from PSC since Jason Lewis was a First Team
selection at first base in 1997.
A 6’0”, 180-pound catcher, Tupman turned in a terrific rookie campaign for the Panthers. He led the ball club in batting average (.414), hits (46), runs (35), walks (24), doubles
(13), triples (2), slugging percentage (.595) and on-base percentage (.514). He was also an outstanding defensive catcher, throwing out 12 of 34 prospective base stealers and picking
off five runners.
Tupman is playing this summer for the Mill City All-Americans in Lowell, Mass., an entry in the New England Collegiate Baseball League.
