An Outcaste Voice Speaks

October 15th, 2002 by Adam

Mr. M. C. Raj, a member of India’s Dalit caste, will speak at Plymouth State College Tuesday, October 22 from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Mr. Raj’s talk, “An Outcaste Voice Speaks,” will be presented at the Heritage Commons in Hall Residence Hall, free of charge.

Social Science Department Chair, Dr. Grace Fraser says, “Dalits, the 400 million members of India’s lowest social caste, are referred to as ‘untouchables’ by members of the upper castes. Mr. Raj will be talking about the Rural Education for Development Society (REDS), that trains Dalit people to become more active in their own political and social lives.”
