BABSON PARK, Mass. — Junior Dustin Kim (Laurel, Md.) recorded two goals and one assist to lead the Babson College men’s ice hockey team to a 7-1 win over
visiting Plymouth State College in non-conference competition Tuesday night.
The leading scorer in the ECAC East coming into the game, Kim scored the first goal of the contest on the powerplay at 9:54 of the first period. Babson (11-4-2)
then broke the game open with three straight goals to start the second, as freshman Jamas LaFreniere (Southboro, Mass.), junior Steve Whitney (Attleboro, Mass.), and
senior Rob Harvey (Fredericton, N.B.) all found the back of the net.
Plymouth State (4-7-3) got one goal back when junior Bryan Croft (Penacook, N.H.) scored at 16:05 of the second, but the Beavers responded almost immediately
when Kim tallied his second of the game at 16:46. Babson would add two more goals in the final period – one by senior Joe Giantonio (Everett, Mass.) and another by
sophomore Brett Adamczyk (Agawam, Mass.) – to run finish off the 7-1 victory.
First-year Craig Weiner (Thorwood, N.Y.) played extremely well in net for Babson, stopping 21 of 22 shots to earn the win. First-year Chris Hyson (Colchester,
Conn.) went the distance in net for Plymouth State, making 28 saves.
PSC continues its four-game road swing Saturday with a tough ECAC Northeast Conference clash at Wentworth (7:30 p.m.).
