WALTHAM, Mass. – Sophomore Cait Anton (Woolwich, Maine) and freshman Christina DiGiacomo (Meriden, Conn.) combined for five individual victories Saturday afternoon, but it wasn’t enough as Bentley College defeated Plymouth State University, 179-105, in a women’s swimming and diving meet.
Anton brought home three individual victories for the Panthers, winning the 50-yard backstroke in 31.56 seconds, the 100-yard backstroke in 1:06.67, and the 100-yard individual medley in 1:10.77. DiGiacomo captured two individual events, finishing first in the 100-yard freestyle in 1:00.91, and the 200-yard freestyle in 2:11.87.
The Falcons had too much strength, though, and took the other 11 events, including both relays. Freshman Allison Colarusso (Middleboro, Mass.) and sophomore Katrina Kaufman (Belmont, Mass.) led Bentley with two wins apiece, Colarusso taking the 50- and 100-yard breaststroke and Kaufman outscoring the field in the one-meter and three-meter diving.
PSU, 1-3 in dual meets this season, competes again next Saturday in a dual at Bridgewater State (1:00 p.m.). Bentley improves to 4-1.
