PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Bentley College touched first in 10 of the 16 events Saturday afternoon and went on to defeat Plymouth State University, 167-128, in a women’s swimming and diving meet at the PSU Natatorium.
Senior Brianne Tulley (Chelmsford, Mass.) and sophomores Liza Connolly (Washington, Conn.) and Arden Brust (Newark, N.Y.) led the visitors with victories in two swimming events apiece. Tulley took the 50-yard freestyle (29.15) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:14.66), Connolly won the 200-yard free (2:07.75) and 50-yard butterfly (28.99), and Brust was the winner in the 50-yard backstroke (30.72) and 100-yard individual medley (1:07.10).
Junior Danielle DeStefano (Centerville, Mass.) led the Panthers with victories in both diving events. She scored 194.15 to win the one-meter event, and 212.50 to capture the three-meter event.
Other individual winners for PSU included freshman Amanda Branch (Grey, Maine) in the 100-yard fly (1:08.47), junior Cait Anton (Woolwich, Maine) in the 100-yard back (1:08.46), and sophomore Christina DiGiacomo (Meriden, Conn.) in the 500-yard free (5:53.71).
Three others also captured individual events for Bentley – freshman Marissa Cerami (Mahwah, N.J.) in the 1,000-yard free (13:13.12), classmate Kaitlin Chepeleff (Vernon, Conn.) in the 50-yard breast (34.98), and junior Kaitlin Anelauskas (Medfield, Mass.) in the 100-yard free (59.39).
PSU, 2-3, is back in action next Saturday with another home meet against Bridgewater State (1:00 p.m.) Bentley returns to the pool on Wednesday at Western New England College in a tri-meet with Regis College (7:00 p.m.)
