PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Sophomore Jillian Peo (Stow, Mass.) scored a pair of goals Tuesday afternoon, leading Brandeis University to a 4-0 shutout of Plymouth State University in a non-conference women’s soccer game at Panther Field.
Peo tallied both of her goals in the first half as Brandeis took a 3-0 lead at the break. Sophomore goalie Natasha Pieciak (Three Rivers, Mass.) did the rest, stopping all five Panther shots to record her fifth shutout of the season. Brandeis improves its record to 12-2-1 overall, while PSU falls to 9-5-1.
Senior Melissa DeLowe (San Ramon, Cal.) opened the scoring for the Judges with her team-leading 15th goal of the season less than 14 minutes into the game. Peo added fifth and sixth goals of the season in the 21st and 44th minutes to give Brandeis a three-goal advantage heading into halftime.
Sophomore Lauren Gregor (Holliston, Mass.) rounded out the scoring for the Judges with a second half goal at 72:34, with DeLowe assisting on the play.
Brandeis doubled up the Panthers in the shots department, 10-5. PSU keepers Hayley Quinones (Waitsfield, Vt.) and Beth McAloon (Bedford, N.H.) combined for six saves.
The contest also marked the final regular season home game for Panther seniors Katie Sheridan (West Sayville, N.Y.), Kate Van Tassel (Natick, Mass.), Cathy Berei (Trenton, N.J.), Becky Callery (Gill, Mass.) and Natasha Thorne (Melrose, Mass.).
PSU wraps up the regular season this Saturday with a key Little East Conference game at Rhode Island College (1:00 p.m.). Brandeis returns to action Friday at Emory University in Atlanta (7:30 p.m.).
