Bridgewater pulls out tie vs. PSC

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Sophomore Philip Howe (Franklin, Mass.) scored a goal with 2:28 left in regulation play Wednesday afternoon to tie the score
and help Bridgewater State College pull out a 1-1 overtime tie with Plymouth State College in a non-conference men’s soccer game at Panther Field.

The Panthers appeared headed to victory, but Howe picked up a loose ball down about 20 yards out and beat PSC goalkeeper Brad Wilby
(Haddonfield, N.J.) for the game-tying goal at 87:32.

Plymouth State had scored the only other goal of the game just three-and-a-half minutes before halftime. Freshman Steve Balgach (Fairfield, Conn.)
wrapped a direct kick around a wall of defenders and into the right corner of the net for his first career goal.

The Bears finished with a slim 8-6 advantage in shots on goal. Wilby registered five saves in the contest, while senior Brian Krug (Norton, Mass.)
came up with three stops.

PSC, 2-1-1, plays its fifth straight home game this Saturday against Roger Williams (1:00 p.m.). Bridgewater State, 1-1-1, is idle until next Tuesday
(Sept. 24) when the Bears play at UMass Dartmouth (3:30 p.m.).
