PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Bridgewater State College scored a pair of first half goals and went on to post a 2-0 victory over Plymouth State University Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference women’s soccer game at Panther Field.
Sophomore Katie Neary (Abington, Mass.) came off the bench to break a scoreless tie in the 19th minute to give the visiting Bears a 1-0 lead. Senior Michelle Rhodes (Marshfield, Mass.) extended the BSC margin to 2-0 at the 33:28 mark. Freshman Taryn Sullivan (Hanover, Mass.) collected assists on both goals for the Bears.
Bridgewater State had a 10-5 advantage in shots on goal, including a 6-2 bulge in the second half, but neither team was able to score the rest of the way. Sophomore Emily Schlosser (Petersham, Mass.) registered four saves to record her first shutout of the season, while PSU junior keeper Hayley Quinones (Waitsfield, Vt.) finished with eight saves.
PSU, 3-1-0, opens Little East Conference play this Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. clash at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. BSC, 2-1-0, returns home to host Babson Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
