Combined Ensembles Perform at PSC
Chorale and Contemporary Dance present
“The Golden Door: Images of Immigration”
Plymouth State College choirs and the Contemporary Dance Ensemble will present a joint recital, The Golden Door: Images of Immigration at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 21.
The Golden Door by Ronald Perera is based on writings by immigrants who came to the U.S. through Ellis Island. The program will feature narration, soloists, choir, orchestra, a solo dancers, and projected images. The performance is the culmination of a semester of study surrounding issues of immigration, including personal family research by students and faculty. Portions of the program will be signed by PSC faculty member Elizabeth Cox.
The concert will also include “The Making of a Drum” by Bob Chilcott, performed by the PSC Chamber Singers and the Contemporary Dance Ensemble.
Director of the Contemporary Dance Ensemble is Joan Wiegers. Dan Perkins is director of choral activities. Special graphics are by Matt Kizer.
Tickets are $6 at the Silver Cultural Arts Center Box Office, 535-ARTS. Box office hours are Monday – Friday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Thursday until 7 p.m.
