Dancers from Across New England Teach at PSU Feb. 2

PLYMOUTH, N.H.-An all-star cast of professional dance faculty will have dancers thinking about technique in news ways after a series of workshops Saturday, Feb. 2 at Plymouth State University.

An informal showcase will present work from instructors and dance students and will highlight dances created during master classes. Performers of all ages and many dance styles will be represented.

Instructors will be on hand from studios and dance companies such as AnD Dance, Boston Ballet Company, THARP!, Ballet Moskva, UMass Amherst, Emerson College, Contemporary Dance Company of Cuba, Riverdance and Terminal Hip Dance Theatre.

The fee for the daylong workshop including all classes and performances is $95. Individual enrollment of $75 available for the master classes only.

The day wraps up with a gala dance concert at 7:30 p.m. at the Silver Center for the Arts. The gala performance brings together professional artists, educators and emerging choreographers from New England performing in ballet, modern, jazz, hip-hop and contemporary genres.

The dance division of the PSU Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance will host professional works by Laura Peterson Choreography of NYC, Chaos Theory Dance from Amherst, Mass., Terminal Hip Dance Theatre from Plymouth, and PSU dance division students and faculty.

Additionally, the program will present local dance artists who works were selected via adjudication by Dance Premier faculty. They are Chrissy Reynolds and Flipside Dance of Annemarie’s Dance Center in Ashland, Mass., Erin Lovett Sherman/Artsfest with Frates Creative Arts Center in Laconia, Lindsay Guidoboni and dancers of Dance Professions in Londonderry, and Elise Grant and Esme Beach of Ninth State Movement Complex in Plymouth.

Tickets for the gala performance are $10 for adults and $7 for seniors and youth at the Silver Center Box Office, (603) 535-ARTS.

A pre-performance dessert reception will be held in the Silver Center lobby at 7 p.m. Formal attire is suggested.
