Destination? College!

High school juniors thinking ahead to college have
been invited to Destination College Saturday, March 22 at
Plymouth State. The New Hampshire Higher Education
Assistance Foundation (NHHEAF) Network will present this
fourth annual statewide college preparation convention.
More than 25 colleges are participating in the daylong
program.
In addition to learning about how to get into college,
attendees may participate in drawings for scholarships
and savings bonds donated by New Hampshire Higher
Education Loan Corporation (a NHHEAF Network
organization), and several New Hampshire banks and credit
unions.

“Last year more than 1,000 people from 106
different cities and towns attended Destination
College,” says Scott Power, coordinator of the
program.

The free event presents information and resources to
help students and families prepare for entry to college.
Students and parents will choose from among more than a
dozen workshops on topics such as standardized testing,
the college interview and essay, using technology for the
college search, information for the student athlete,
choosing a major and more. In addition, a discussion of
college costs and funding sponsored by Fidelity
Investments will be presented by college financial aid
officers.

“Destination College has become a
must-attend event for college bound high school juniors
and their parents,” says Alvirne High School
Director of Guidance Michael Dolphin. “I can think
of no other venue where every aspect of the college
application and funding process is covered in such
detail. Students and parents who take advantage of this
free event will find that it is a day well spent.”

Power
says, “We hope this year’s event will send a
clear message that college is possible and educational
achievement is important to attaining personal, career
and life goals.”
