Educators will gather at Plymouth State College
Monday, September 23, to discuss the epidemic of obesity among children and youth.
The Annual Youth Fitness Conference, a project of the Health, Physical Education and Recreation Department, will be held in the Hartman Union multipurpose room, beginning with registration at 8 a.m.
Dr. Joanne Owens-Nauslar, president-elect of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance will present the keynote address.
Dr. Owens-Nauslar is also director of professional
development for the American School Health Association in Kent, Ohio. The topic of her address is “Epidemic of Obesity: What is our Responsibility?”
Breakout sessions will include best practices by outstanding NewHampshire professionals that promote increased levels of physical activity among each instructional level; Department of Education grant impact on physical education programs, associations and organizations that focus on children’s interests; curriculum development and technology.
