Educational Theatre Collaborative will be holding auditions for the January 2007 production of Beauty and the Beast at the Silver Center on the PSU campus Nov. 4 – 9. The Educational Theatre Collaborative is sponsored by the Plymouth State University College of Graduate Studies, with additional support from Plymouth Elementary School, Friends of the Arts and the Silver Center. Beauty and the Beast marks ETC’s 13th year of presenting award-winning productions for family audiences.
Disney’s Beauty and the Beast is the classic love story of Belle, a young woman in a small, provincial town; and the Beast, who is really a prince trapped in a spell placed on him by an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and to be loved, the spell will be broken and he will be transformed back to his former self. But time is running out, and if the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he will be doomed for all eternity.
ETC invites people of all ages—experienced or not—to audition for this community-wide theatre project.
Everyone should wear loose, comfortable clothes and shoes for the audition. Children in grades 3–8 will be auditioned in groups and do not need to have material prepared in advance. High school students, faculty, staff and community members must call Brenda Gleich at 535-2803 to schedule an individual audition time according to the schedule below, and bring a piece of prepared music.
