Fall Arts Series Kicks Off

The Faculty Dance Event kicks off the season with members of the PSU dance faculty and guest artists. It takes place at 8 p.m., September 10, at the Silver Cultural Arts Center.

The event will feature choreography and dancing from Chrissy Brown, Meagan Lewis, Karen Amirault, Joan Wiegers, Avery Lee, Sarah Mazure, Priscilla Wagner, Nancy Salmon, Deanna Beattie, Anne Ramsay, Lea Gagnon, Lindsay Guidoboni and Lisa Travis.

The Ruggieri Chamber Soloists, with pianist Daniel Perkins, Professor in the Music, Theatre and Dance Department, will perform , September 11, also at 8 p.m. in the SCAC.

The featured piece will be Dvorak’s Dumky Trio. “Dumky” is a Ukranian word suggesting the pensive, melancholic mood of the trio that was composed in 1891 after Dvorak’s return from a concert tour in Russia.

Violinist John Lindsey and cellist Linda Galvan will join Perkins for the performance. Also featured will be Schubert’s Piano Trio in E-flat Major

Also in September, the International Film Series will begin with Rabbit-Proof Fence, an Australian film about the odyssey of three young aborigine girls who escape a government internment camp and trek across the outback to return home. The film shows at 7 p.m., September 14, at Frost Academic Commons.
