PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Three Plymouth State College football standouts have been recognized for their outstanding individual performances.
Freshman quarterback Matt Simpson (Auburn, ME), senior linebacker Sans Milbury (Danvers, MA), and senior wide receiver Charlie Schubert (Manchester, NH) were selected to the Freedom Football Conference’s Weekly Honor Roll. Milbury was also named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III New England Honor Roll.
PSC, 2-2 overall, is ranked #8 in the ECAC Division III New England weekly poll, released Monday (Oct. 4). The Panther defense going into Saturday’s game against Western Connecticut was ranked 7th in NCAA Division III in total defense allowing just 177.7yds a game.
Milbury led a Panther defense that kept Western Connecticut out of the end zone. He made 17 tackles, eight solo and nine assisted, and he also had one tackle for a loss
Schubert made five catches for 131yds, and one touchdown. He also had three punt returns for 16yds. Schubert hooked up with Simpson for a 40-yd reception in the final minutes of the game. He is currently second in the FFC in receiving yards and third in receptions.
A first-year player making his first career start, Simpson completed 13 of 29 passes for 231 yards, no interceptions, and a touchdown. He connected on a 40-yard scoring play with the senior wide receiver Schubert in the fourth quarter with four minutes remaining. Simpson is second in the FFC in passing efficiency (151.71 rating).
The Panthers defense leads the FFC in several areas; they are first in total defense (219 yds/gm), scoring defense (9.8 pts/gm), and passing defense (98.8 yds/gm). The special teams are also leading the FFC in punt returns with an average of 19.4yds.
The Panthers are home again this Saturday (Oct. 6) to host Kings Point at 12 noon.
