Flaming Idiots Light Up Silver Arts

They juggle beanbag chairs, sharp swords and each other.
They make a beach ball dance using leaf blowers. They
escape from straight jackets and they juggle blazing
torches while standing on the shoulders of innocent
strangers. They do all the things your parents told you
not to do and they do it for a living. They are the
Flaming Idiots and they are coming to Plymouth State
College on Sunday, March 2. The show begins at 7 p.m. in
the Silver Cultural Arts Center.

The Austin, Texas-based troupe, which has been together
for nearly 20 years, includes Rob Williams (Gyro), Jon O’Connor
(Pyro) and Kevin Hunt (Walter). They met and performed on
the Renaissance festival circuit, but soon became a
popular act in theatres and on college campuses. In fact,
they have appeared twice in limited runs on Broadway,
where the New York Times described their show as “a
theatrical experience bubbling with constant humor …
footloose, fanciful, free-spirited.”

Their act combines vaudeville and the circus along with
original comedy and audience interaction. They have appeared on
The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, on Fox’s Comic Strip Live
and on ABC’s America’s Super Showcase.

The program is sponsored by Speare Memorial Hospital, showing
that they believe “laughter is the best medicine.”

Tickets are $23-10 and are available at the Silver Cultural Arts
Center box office on Main Street. The box office is open Mondays
through Fridays, from noon to 6 p.m. and one hour before the
performance. Ticket information is available by calling
603-535-ARTS. If special accommodations are needed for persons
with disabilities, please call in advance.
