Flood Emergency Lifted (March 13 @ 12:35 p.m.)

The Plymouth State Flood Emergency is now lifted. All student vehicles must be returned to their designated parking lots by 5 p.m. this evening (Sunday, March 13).
Thank you again for your cooperation during this past week.

PSU Parking Update (March 11, 2011 @ 3:15 p.m.)

Today’s warmer temperatures have brought us some relief, but significant ice and snowmelt are still necessary before regular PSU parking can resume.

Additional parking spaces have been cleared in the PE Center lot. Because of these additional spaces, residential students must move from faculty/staff and commuter parking lots into residential north and residential south lots or to the PE Center Lot 502 (the one in the front). Additional parking information is available from University police at 535-2330.

The Pemigewasset River is forecast to crest slightly below flood stage on Saturday, but the presence of ice makes predictions difficult. For Monday, faculty, staff and commuter students are encouraged to carpool if possible.

Another parking update will be sent Monday.

Thank you again for your cooperation.

Update Thursday March 10, 2011 2:30 p.m.

The Pemigewasset River remains choked with ice; additional precipitation is expected through Friday afternoon. While no life or property is in danger at present, significant challenges remain to PSU and our neighbors in Plymouth and Holderness until the river resumes normal flow and ice melts in our parking lots.

As of now, the Ice Arena lots remain closed and are expected to be closed through at least Monday. The following PSU parking restrictions remain in effect:

  • Students may park in any lot on campus EXCEPT Lot 304 (the Hyde lot). If no parking is available, students should park in the PE Center lot. The PSU shuttle is running as scheduled.

  • Plymouth police are enforcing town parking ordinances. Do not park on side streets or in private parking lots.

For more information about parking, call PSU police at 535-2330

We remain in touch with local, state and regional emergency management agencies to monitor the weather and river activity. As conditions warrant, we will issue additional information. Until then, we thank all members of the PSU community for their help and patience during this unusual week.
