Flood Watch Issued for Pemi River in Plymouth

July 24th, 2008 by Adam

At noon today, the National Weather Service predicted that the Pemi River in Plymouth will reach flood stage by 8:00 tonight and crest over 4 feet above flood stage by 2:00 tomorrow morning.

If this prediction holds through the day, we will close the parking lots at the PE Center and Facility Services Building (lots 501-503, 601-603, and 605 and 607) by 5:00 PM.

If you or anyone you know is currently using any of these lots, we ask that you move your vehicle to the Langdon Woods parking lot (lots 701, 702 & 703) by 5:00 this afternoon.

Further, If the predicted river level is reached, it will likely result in the closing of Route 175A. If we get near that point, then the PE Center will also be closed.

Building closures and parking bans will only be lifted once we are confident that the river has receded and is not expected to rise again.

If you are planning to use any of the Holderness lots or the PE Center on Friday, check myPlymouth, the PSU Web site (www.plymouth.edu) or the Storm Line (535-3535) prior to coming to campus. We will post any changes on those sites as they happen. The PE Center and Facility Services Building lots will remain closed as long as the river level is above flood stage.

Please contact me at the Physical Plant (x2409) if you have any questions or concerns.
