PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The leading scorer on the Plymouth State College field hockey team has been named Little East Conference Player of the Week for the final
week of the regular season.
Senior midfielder Megan Fournier (East Waterboro, Maine) received the LEC’s top weekly honor after leading the Panthers to a pair of shutout victories. The
Panthers have won nine games in a row, and have blanked their last four opponents.
A senior tri-captain, Fournier scored four goals and one assist in PSC’s 2-0 week against LEC foes. She netted a pair of goals and an assist in Tuesday’s 4-0 win
over Fitchburg State, and she added two more scores in a 3-0 triumph Saturday at Worcester State. Fournier, who has scored at least one goal in four straight outings,
leads PSC and is tied for seventh in the LEC in scoring with 10 goals and two assists.
The Panthers, 12-4 overall, captured their second consecutive LEC regular season title with a 9-1 mark. PSC is the #1 seed in this week’s conference tournament,
and receives a bye in Tuesday’s quarterfinal round. The semifinals and championship contest will be at PSC’s Arold Field this weekend – with semifinal games Friday at
12:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., and the championship clash Saturday at 12 noon.
The LEC champion receives an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. Plymouth State defeated Keene State in last year’s title game
in Plymouth, 1-0.
