WELLINGTON, Fla. – The Plymouth State University women’s lacrosse team suffered a 15-8 defeat at the hands of Goucher College (Md.) Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference game played in Wellington, Fla.
PSU fell behind 8-3 after the first 30 minutes. The Panthers showed improved play in the second half and put five more goals on the board but the Gophers proved to be too much. Junior Whitney Groseclose (Boyce, Va.) led the Goucher offense with five goals as the Gophers evened their record at 3-3.
Junior Kelsey MacDonald (Oak Bluffs, Mass.) and senior Nicole Evans (Scituate, Mass.) led the Panther offense, MacDonald with two of her three goals in the first half and Evans with two goals and two assists. Juniors Annie Pinault (Framingham, Mass.), Meg Cupoli (Southboro, Mass.) and Amanda Spadafora (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) also collected one goal apiece for the Panthers.
Sophomore Sarah Beebe (Rumson, N.J.) and freshman Lindsay DeLorie (Holliston, Mass.) split time in the Panther goal and combined for 11 saves.
PSU, 0-3, looks to get into the win column Saturday in the Sunshine State with a 9:00 a.m. contest against Wellesley College.
