Larry Haynes, a 1986 graduate of Plymouth State College, and President and CEO of the Grappone Automotive Group, visited PSU Tuesday, Oct. 14, as part of PSU’s Live, Work, and Innovate in Rural New Hampshire outreach program. Haynes met with students to explain the value of working for the Grappone Auto Group, which currently employs 300 people with annual revenues of $175 million.
Haynes, an accounting major, told students and faculty that Plymouth State prepared him for a successful business career, even though he never realized the auto business was his calling.
“When I left Plymouth State, I had no idea that I would end up in the automotive industry, let alone becoming the President and CEO of one of New Hampshire’s largest dealers, “said Haynes. “You have to love what you do, then it’s not work. Life will be great if you’re passionate about your work.”
Live, Work, and Innovate in Rural New Hampshire is a program designed to keep New Hampshire college graduates in-state, by presenting employment and internship opportunities that exist throughout the rural regions of New Hampshire. Participants learn about the unique and rewarding dynamics of doing business in rural New Hampshire.
