Its All About Family October 9-14 at Plymouth State
Homecoming and Family Celebration Touts Community and Connection
The second annual Homecoming and Family Celebration at Plymouth State University October 9 – 14 is all about keeping people connected at and with PSU.
Last year’s event combined alumni and student activities with great success, and this year promises more of the same.
In addition to purely student contests such as a banner competition and Homecoming Court voting, the week includes a myriad of athletic contests, a Harvest Masquerade Ball, a non-cash casino event, speakers on topics of interest to parents, several scholarship ceremonies, a spirit night, a College of Graduate Studies symposium and a family dinner with entertainment.
Students in the department of Music, Theatre and Dance will perform Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” and Public Radio International star Ira Glass will offer an inside look at his award-winning program, This American Life.
Friday night at approximately 7:30 p.m., the student programming association, PACE, will host a fireworks show. The best viewing location will be the Alumni Green on campus, in front of the student union.
And rumor has it that Bad Dogs, Plymouth’s fine new hot dog emporium, will unveil a new hot dog with ingredients selected by PSU President Sara Jayne Steen and named in her honor, at the football game on Saturday.
The annual Dearborn Golf Classic in honor of Plymouth resident and longtime professor of mathematics Barbara Dearborn caps of the events on Sunday morning.
