Country Roads, Take Me Home! Theme for 2005 Plymouth State Homecoming
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Plymouth State University alumni will return to their alma mater October 14 – 16 for Homecoming 2005. A weekend packed with social activities, receptions, athletic contests and traditional events for alumni and their families has been organized around this year’s theme, Country Roads, Take Me Home!
Opening events on Friday include a flag football intramural championship at 3 p.m., a 6:45 p.m. softball intramural championship, a semi-formal reception at 8 p.m. sponsored by Plymouth State’s student programming board PACE, and an alumni reception at 9 p.m. at the Boiler Room Lounge at the Common Man Inn and Spa. The traditional Midnight Madness basketball tournament begins at 11:30 p.m. in Foley Gymnasium at the Physical Education Center.
Saturday activities begin at 8:30 a.m. with another traditional event, the annual Foley Footrace which starts on the campus’ Alumni Green. Family events throughout the day include a challenge ropes course experience at 9 a.m., a hike up Rattlesnake Mountain with Vice President for Student Affairs Dick Hage leaving the Alumni Green at 10 a.m., and a homecoming carnival at 11 a.m. on the Alumni Green. Athletic competitions schedule for the day include men’s soccer vs. Western Connecticut at 11 a.m., field hockey vs. Bridgewater State College at noon, and football vs. Springfield College at 1:30 p.m. Beginning at 2 p.m. in the Hartman Union Building (HUB) there will be game room open hours in the Multipurpose Room and coffee house open hours in the Fireplace Lounge. Starting at 3:30 p.m. in Hyde Hall 120 and 220, alumni and their families can relax and enjoy free movies. Saturday events wrap up at 8 p.m. with VH1 The Best Week Ever live on stage in the HUB Courtroom.
The annual Dearborn Golf Classic kicks off Sunday morning at 9 a.m. at the Owl’s Nest Golf Course in Campton. Those interested in participating are encouraged to check with the PSU alumni office in advance (603-535-2589) as Homecoming events and options for registration are updated frequently.
