Wolfgang Becker’s Goodbye, Lenin! is the story of a young German boy’s quest to keep his ailing mother from finding out about the fall of the German Democratic Republic. When Christiane awakes from a coma (after sleeping through the fall of the Berlin Wall), her son Alex tries his best to keep the end of Communism a secret in order to protect his mother from an emotional shock.
This comedic look at the human side of political change, in German with English subtitles, will be shown Thursday April 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the Frost Academic Commons on School Street in Plymouth. Admission is free, and discussion and refreshments will follow the film.
