Karl Drerup Art Gallery Hosts

May 30th, 2003 by Adam

The Karl Drerup Art Gallery at Plymouth
State College will host “American Artists in Bloom,”
a Standard Flower Show by Ashland Garden Club, Friday and
Saturday, June 13 and 14. The public is invited to
attend, free of charge. Exhibition hours are noon –
4 p.m. on June 13 and 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. June 14.

A Standard Flower Show is produced to educate club
members and the viewing public and to stimulate an
interest in horticulture. Shows also provide an outlet
for creative expression and convey the objectives of the
National Council of Garden Clubs.

Gallery director Catherine Amidon says, “We are
particularly excited to have this show in the gallery
this summer. Ashland Garden Club members have partnered
with us throughout the year, presenting ‘Arts in
Bloom’ segments for several of our exhibitions, and
sharing with the community still another medium for the
visual arts.”

Entries will be accepted in three divisions. Division I,
Horticulture, accepts entries from all amateur gardeners.
Division II, Design, is open to Federated Garden Club members
only on themes such as “Calder,” “Saint Gaudens,”
“Norman Rockwell,” “Name Your Favorite Artist,”
“Georgia O’Keefe” and “Andy Warhol.”
Division III, Special Exhibits, includes educational exhibitions
and an invitational exhibit of terrariums created by Ashland
Garden Club Junior Gardeners. Awards are presented in each
