KEENE, N.H. – Junior Greg Richard (Nashua, N.H.) scored a career-high four goals and classmate Eric Momnie (South Windsor, Conn.) added three goals and an assist Saturday afternoon to lead the Keene State College men’s lacrosse team to a 14-5 Little East Conference victory over rival Plymouth State University at the Owl Athletic Complex.
It was the first conference game of the season for both teams. Keene State improves to 5-3 overall while PSU drops to 1-3.
Richard scored a pair of goals to stake KSC to a 4-1 lead. The Owls tallied four more in the second quarter to increase the margin to 8-2. The Panthers rallied with three goals in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 9-5, but KSC pulled away in the final stanza with five unanswered goals.
Sophomore Jon Gagnon (New Bedford, Mass.) and junior Pat O’Malley (South Windsor, Conn.) scored two goals apiece for Plymouth State, and junior Steve Skinner (Hingham, Mass.) added a goal and an assist.
Junior goalie Eric Delisle (Amherst, N.H.) made 14 saves for Keene State, and freshman Steve Valeri (Chelmsford, Mass.) stopped 20 shots for the Panthers.
PSU is back in action Sunday with another Little East Conference road game at Western Connecticut (12:00 p.m.). Keene State plays at Curry on Thursday (4:00 p.m.).
