KEENE, N.H. – Freshman Melissa Bergeron (Claremont, N.H.) scored the only goal of the game with 2:58 to play in the first overtime Saturday to lift Keene State
College to a 1-0 Little East Conference win over rival Plymouth State College in a women’s soccer match at Owl Stadium Complex.
Bergeron beat a Panther defender to put the ball into the far corner of the net for the unassisted game-winner. It was her fifth goal of the season.
It was the fourth straight win for Keene State, improving the Owls to 11-3 overall and 2-1 in the LEC. Plymouth State falls to 5-6 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
PSC senior goalkeeper Becky Kennedy (West Springfield, Mass.) had a strong game, stopping 14 shots, while Michelle Mason (Fairport, N.Y.) made one save to
record her sixth shutout of the season for KSC.
PSC gets back into action Wednesday (Oct. 10) with a non-conference game at Bowdoin (4:00 p.m.).
