MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Freshman Adam Krinsky (Concord, N.H.) scored five goals and added two assists Monday afternoon to lead the Plymouth State University men’s lacrosse team to its first victory of the season, a 16-12 decision over Centenary College (N.J.)
The Panthers were forced to come from behind to earn the win. After trailing 4-1 after one quarter and 6-3 at the half, PSU outscored the Cyclones 13-6 in the second half, including 7-3 in the third quarter to pull out the win. PSU improves to 1-2 on the season, while Centenary drops to 0-3.
Juniors Jon Gagnon (New Bedford, Mass.) and John Padua (Hamden, Conn.) and senior Steve Skinner (Hingham, Mass.) all contributed three goals to the Panther offense, with Gagnon and Padua also registering assists. Senior Pat O’Malley (South Windsor, Conn.) and freshman Mike Russell (Concord, N.H.) added single goals for PSU, and junior Bobby Dabrieo (Woburn, Mass.) chipped in with three assists.
The Cyclones were led by senior Reese Baillie (Surrey, B.C.), who recorded six goals and one assist, while junior Eric Dechert (Avalon, N.J.) added three goals.
Sophomore goalie Steve Valeri (Chelmsford, Mass.) made 13 saves to earn the win in the Panther net.
PSU plays another game on its southern trip Thursday at 12 noon against the University of Scranton (Pa.)
