WALTHAM, Mass. – Sophomore forward Sandra Petlick (New Castle, NH) bounced a goal past Brandeis goalkeeper Kerry Bronnenkant in the 88th minute
Wednesday to carry visiting Plymouth State College past the Brandeis Judges in women’s soccer.
Plymouth State forward Carrie Poulin (Westfield, Mass.) scored her team-leading sixth goal midway through the first half as the PSC defense held the Judges’
offense at bay for the entire first half of play.
Brandeis came out strong in the second half, however, and tied the score off a header by sophomore forward Liz Dewire. Momentum went back and forth in a very
physical second half with both Bronnenkant and PSC keeper Becky Kennedy (West Springfield, Mass.) making several acrobatic saves. With less than two minute to
play, Plymouth State found the ball in Brandeis’ box and Petlick netted the game-winning goal.
With the win, PSC improved its record to 4-1 on the season, while Brandeis dropped to 2-2.
The Panthers continue their five-game road swing Saturday in the Little East Conference opener at UMass Boston (2 p.m.).
