PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The leading scorer on the Plymouth State University men’s basketball team continues to pile up honors, as he was named Little East Conference Player of the Week for the third time this season.
Senior guard Nick Pelotte (Bingham, Maine) received the top LEC Weekly honor again on Monday. He has also been on the LEC Honor Roll twice this season, and has been the ECAC New England Player of the Week on two occasions.
A 5’10” guard, Pelotte averaged 33.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in PSU’s 1-1 week. He led PSU with 28 points in a big road win last Tuesday at archrival Keene State, and tossed in 38 points in a 93-80 loss at RIC on Saturday, his second-highest output in a game this season. For the week, he shot 53.8 percent from the field (21-of-39), 41.7 percent from three-point range (5-of-12) and 70.4 percent from the free throw line (19-of-27) while adding seven assists and two steals.
Pelotte continues to lead the conference in scoring (25.4 ppg). He is also in the top 10 in the LEC in assists (tied for fourth with 3.6 apg) and three-point field goals made (fifth with 2.1 per game).
Pelotte has also continued his climb on the school’s all-time scoring list. He has moved into third place with 1,701 points, trailing only Moses Jean-Pierre (2,483) and Adam DeChristopher (2,090).
The Panthers have won nine of their last 11 games to improve to 11-5 overall. PSU is also tied with Rhode Island College for first place in the LEC, both schools at 5-2 in conference play, with Western Connecticut (4-2) a half game behind. Plymouth State begins a four-game homestand this Tuesday (Jan. 25) at Foley Gymnasium, hosting Southern Maine (7:30 p.m.)
