PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The head coach of the Plymouth State College field hockey team has been named a Regional Coach of the Year by the National Field Hockey
PSC second-year coach Bonnie Lord was voted New England West Regional Coach of the Year for 2001. She and the other five regional winners are finalists for
the National Coach of the Year Award, which will be announced at the NFHCA Awards Luncheon on Jan. 12th, 2002, in Philadelphia.
Lord has guided the Panthers to back-to-back Little East Conference regular season and tournament championships in her two seasons at PSC. Plymouth State
has made consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances under Lord, finishing with 15-5 overall records both years.
Plymouth State also registered an NCAA Tournament victory in 2001, the first since 1994 and only the second in school history. PSC won the LEC regular season
with a 9-1 mark, knocked off Eastern Connecticut and Worcester State to capture the LEC title, and defeated Gordon College in the opening round of the NCAA
Tournament before falling to eventual national champion SUNY Cortland.
Lord won numerous state championships and Coach of the Year awards during a 20-year field hockey coaching career at Kingswood (N.H.) High School.
