BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Senior midfielder Krisy Menard (Franklin, Vt.) scored the only goal of the game in the 66th minute Wednesday afternoon, spoiling
Bridgewater State’s season and home opener as Plymouth State College shut out the Bears, 1-0, at Swenson Field.
Menard’s second-half tally just snuck past the outstretched hand of BSC keeper Ryann Archer (Marshfield, Mass.) and inside the far post for the eventual
game-winner. The victory helped PSC first-year head coach Keith Scarlett record his first career victory.
The Panthers’ goaltending tandem of Annmarie DeVivo (West Islip, N.Y.) and Becky Kennedy (West Springfield, Mass.) combined on the shutout, with Kennedy all
five of the duo’s saves. BSC received a solid effort out of keepers Maura Cacciatore (Waltham, Mass.) and Archer, who made four saves apiece.
Bridgewater State is back in action Saturday when the Bears travel to Bowdoin. PSC returns home for Saturday’s home opener against nationally-ranked Wheaton
College (2 p.m.).
