PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Senior Antoine Moboueyi (Gabon, Africa) scored two goals and Plymouth State College went on to post a 4-1 victory over the
University of Southern Maine Tuesday night in a Little East Conference men’s soccer match at Panther Field.
The victory marks PSC’s third consecutive victory as the Panthers improve to 7-4-0 overall and 4-1-0 in the LEC. Southern Maine continued their
struggles as its record dropped to 2-14-1 overall and 0-4-1 in the conference.
Sophomore Michael Cantelli (Raymond, N.H.), junior Justin Wengell (Newington, Conn.) and Moiboueyi each scored in a span of 2:20 in the first half
as the Panthers jumped out to an early 3-0 lead. Assisting on the goals were Cantelli, Wengell, and senior Garry Thomson (Glasgow, Scotland).
The Huskies tried to claw back into the game as sophomore Ian Frank (Gorham, Maine) scored on a cross from freshman Gavin Speaker (Hermon,
Maine) in the 41st minute, to cut the lead to two. Panther defense shut down the Huskies in the second half and Moiboueyi added his second goal of the game
on a through ball from Darryl Plimpton (Billerica, Mass.).
Panther senior keeper Scott Laine (Spencer, Mass.) was credited with five saves while Husky sophomore Dan Hills (Tolland, Conn.) had three.
Plymouth State will play its final home game of the regular season this Saturday (Oct. 20) against Rhode Island College in a LEC match at 1:00 p.m. at
