Moniz Elected National NASW Secretary

Cynthia Moniz was recently elected secretary of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW). She will serve as a member of the national board of directors and executive committee. She was also appointed by the organization’s president to serve as chair of the national committee on women’s issues.

Moniz is the Social Work department chair at PSU and a former president of the New Hampshire chapter of NASW. In 2002 she was voted social worker of the year.

Moniz’s current research focuses on inequality and health. Her textbook, Health and Health Care Policy: a Social Work Perspective (2003), written with Stephen Gorin, was published by Allyn & Bacon.
