PLYMOUTH, N.H. – One of the senior captains on the Plymouth State College women’s basketball team continues to receive honors for her performance on the
Senior Courtney Albert (Hudson, N.H.) was selected New England Player of the Week for her efforts in three games last week. She received the recognition by both
the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) and the New England Women’s Basketball Association (NEWBA). Albert received the same honor from the Little East
Conference on Monday.
A 5’9” forward, Albert put up double-doubles in all three Panther games last week. She finished with 20 points and 16 rebounds in PSC’s upset over 15th-ranked
Southern Maine on Tuesday, added 25 points and 11 boards in a come-from-behind win at Colby-Sawyer on Thursday, and contributed 17 points and a career-high 17
rebounds in a blowout win over UMass Dartmouth on Saturday. For the week, Albert averaged 20.7 points, 14.7 boards, 3.7 assists and 3.3 steals while converting 48.9
percent from the field (22-of-45), 55.6 percent from three-point range (5-of-9) and 76.5 percent from the free throw line (13-of-17).
Albert continues to lead the LEC in scoring (18.6 ppg) and three-point FG percentage (.543). She also ranks second in FT percentage (.836), third in FG
percentage (.520), fifth in rebounding (8.3 rpg) and 10th in assists (3.4 apg).
PSC has won seven in a row to improve to 12-5 overall, including Tuesday’s night’s 74-53 victory over Keene State. The Panthers are back in action Thursday with
a non-conference home game against Johnson & Wales (7:30 p.m.). PSC then travels to Connecticut Saturday to face LEC co-leader and 19th-ranked Eastern
Connecticut (1:00 p.m.).
