Music of Brahms and Granados September 15

September 5th, 2002 by Adam

The Ruggieri Chamber Soloists will perform at the Silver Cultural Arts Center at Plymouth State College Sunday,
Sept. 15 at 1 p.m.

The program features Brahms’ famous “Piano Quintet in F minor,” as well as a “decidedly Spanish” quintet by Granados, according to Dan Perkins, Ruggieri pianist.

Perkins says, “Members of the Ruggieri family were well known as string instrument makers in 17th and 18th century Italy. Their instruments bear a general resemblance to those of the famous Amati family.”

The Ruggieri Chamber Soloists, formed in 1988 (as the Miranda Chamber Players), perform duos, trios, piano quartets and quintets of all eras. They have performed in recitals, benefit concerts and as part of concert series throughout New England.

Members of the Ruggieri Chamber Soloists in addition to Perkins are John Lindsey and Wilson Pedrasas, violin; Ken Martinson, viola and Linda Galvan, cello.

Tickets are $12-$5 at the Silver Cultural Arts Center Box Office, 535-ARTS. Box office hours are Monday – Friday, noon – 6 p.m.
