PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Two of the standouts from Plymouth State University’s victory over Coast Guard last Saturday were recognized Monday with selection to the New England Football Conference Weekly Honor Roll.
Senior tailback Jeff Mack (Milford, N.H./Milford) and junior safety Mike Lannon (Sharon, Mass.) were PSU’s representatives on this week’s NEFC Honor Roll. Mack was also honored a week ago after PSU’s 41-30 season-opening victory over Mount Ida College, while Lannon is recognized for the first time this season.
A 5’11”, 208-pound back, Mack (right) rushed 29 times for 154 yards (5.3 avg.) and one touchdown, an 11-yard burst in the fourth quarter that helped seal with win for PSU. Mack ranks second in the 16-team NEFC with an average of 132 rushing yards per game on the young season.
A 5’10”, 190-pound safety, Lannon (left) picked off three passes from Coast Guard quarterbacks, two of which set up Panther touchdowns. He also recorded three tackles and one pass break-up. Lannon leads the conference in interceptions and is tied for second in passes defended.
The Panthers, who improved to 2-0 on the season for the first time since winning their first four games in 1998, begin NEFC Boyd Division play this Saturday with a visit to UMass Dartmouth (12 p.m.)
