PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The leading scorer on the Plymouth State College women’s lacrosse team has been honored by the New England Women’s Lacrosse Alliance for her performance in a pair of Panther victories last week.
Sophomore Robin Hartman (Santa Maria, Cal./Franklin H.S.-Reistertown, MD) was named NEWLA Co-Offensive Player of the Week. She scored 10 goals in PSC’s 2-0 week as the Panthers stretched their winning streak to four games, including a victory over the defending NEWLA champions. Hartman shares the weekly honor with New England College’s Rachel McKee.
Hartman started the week last Tuesday with a team-high six goals in a 15-12 double-overtime conference victory at New England College, and added more four goals and an assist Saturday in an 11-9 triumph over defending champ Bridgewater State. The wins improve the Panthers to 5-2 overall and put them alone in first place of the Northern Division of NEWLA with a 2-0 mark.
The strong week for Hartman improved her team-leading scoring totals to 19 goals and four assists (23 points) in seven games. She is also inching up the PSC career scoring list, as she now ranks 13th with 68 points (54 goals, 14 assists). The next person on the list is 12th-place Kate Stroh, who totaled 83 points (71, 12) from 1995-98.
Senior Amanda Beedy (New Hampton, NH), who has nine goals and an assist this season, has moved up to seventh on the PSC all-time scoring list with 112 points (81, 31). Her next target is sixth-place Janice Burke, who registered 135 points (106, 29) from 1978-81.
PSC plays a pair of road games this week, facing arch-rival Keene State Wednesday (Apr. 12) at 4 p.m. and Bowdoin Saturday (Apr. 15) at 1 p.m. The Panthers return home next Monday (Apr. 17) to host Eastern Connecticut (3:30 p.m.).
