PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Junior forward Amanda Gutowski (Conway, N.H.) scored with one minute left in the first overtime Saturday afternoon to lift Plymouth State University past upset-minded Eastern Connecticut State University, 1-0, in a Little East Conference field hockey game at Arold Field.
The Panthers won for the sixth straight outing, improving to 8-4 overall and 6-1 in the Little East Conference, while the Warriors fall to 3-11 and 1-6.
Plymouth State had a 13-10 advantage in shots during the 70 minutes of regulation play, but neither team was able to score. Gutowski tallied her seventh goal of the season to win it, with an assist from freshman Shannon Santamaria (Northfield, N.H.).
Senior Kerry Brady (Jefferson, N.H.) made nine saves to post her second straight shutout and fifth of the season. ECSU freshman Michelle Santora (Greenwich, Conn.) recorded 12 saves.
PSU wraps up a four-game homestand Wednesday with an LEC contest against Fitchburg State (4:00 p.m.). Eastern Conn. returns to action Tuesday with a conference game at UMass Dartmouth (3:30 p.m.).
