PLYMOUTH, N.H. – A senior co-captain on the Plymouth State College field hockey team was selected to the Little East Conference Weekly Honor Roll Monday after helping lead the Panthers to a 2-1 week.
Senior Jill Sutherland (Rockport, MA) received the honor from the LEC after scoring three goals and one assist as PSC captured two of its three outings.
After a 2-0 shutout at the hands of Bowdoin on Tuesday, Sutherland scored the tying goal in what ended up a 2-1 Panther victory over Salem State on Thursday. She came back Saturday with two goals and one assist in a 5-0 LEC victory over Eastern Connecticut. Sutherland leads the team and ranks fourth in the conference in scoring with 18 points (6 goals, 6 assists).
In addition, Sutherland has moved up on PSC’s all-time scoring list. She has 72 points in 68 career games (28 goals, 16 assists), which is eighth on the all-time Panther list. With two more points, she can move into sixth place past Kelly Foss (1992-95) and Jen Meservey (1990-93), who both finished with 73 points.
PSC, 5-8 overall and 1-2 in the LEC, returns to action Wednesday (Oct. 20) with a non-conference match-up at Bates College (3:30 p.m.) before returning to Arold Field for the last home game of the season Saturday (Oct. 23) against UMass Dartmouth (1:00 p.m.).
