LEWISTON, Maine – The Bates College men’s lacrosse team improved to 2-0 Thursday afternoon, defeating Plymouth State University, 16-6, in a non-conference contest.
Freshman Justin Simon (Canaan, N.H.) led the Bates with five goals and one assist, while classmate Mike Medeiros (Concord, Mass.) scored four. The hosts were ahead 15-2 after three quarter before coasting home with the win.
Freshman Brian Frates (Woodstock, Vt.) also notched one goal and two assists for Bates. Senior Pete Friedman (Putney, Vt.) added two goals and senior Danny Ross (Chevy Chase, Md.) had a goal and an assist. Sophomore Jon Kinnane (Little Compton, R.I.) also netted one goal and one assist.
Plymouth State, which was playing without several injured players, got two goals from senior Pat O’Malley (South Windsor, Conn.) and a goal and an assist from freshman Adam Krinsky (Concord, N.H.)
Bates is scheduled to host Trinity this Sunday (1:30 p.m.) Plymouth State, 0-2, is slated to face Saint Anselm College Sunday (7:00 p.m.) at Southern New Hampshire University’s field.
