TAMPA, Fla. – The Plymouth State University men’s lacrosse team registered its first win of the season Wednesday with a 13-2 triumph over Lindenwood University (Mo.) during its Spring Trip to Florida. The outcome also marked the first career victory for PSU’s first-year head coach Andrew Brauch.
After trading the first two goals of the game, PSU assumed control the rest of the contest. The Panthers led 2-1 after one quarter and 7-1 at halftime before cruising home with the win in the second half. Plymouth State evened its record at 1-1 on the season.
Sophomore Bobby Dabrieo (Woburn, Mass.) and junior Steve Skinner (Hingham, Mass.) led the Panther offense, Dabrieo scoring three goals and two assists and Skinner contributing three goals and one assist. Junior John Gallagher (Forestdale, Mass.) added a pair of goals, classmate Pat O’Malley (South Windsor, Conn.) had a goal and two assists, and sophomore Jon Gagnon (New Bedford, Mass.) chipped in with a goal and three assists. First career goals were also collected by freshmen Eric Oliver (Winchester, Mass.) and Andrew Gobiel (Chelmsford, Mass.).
The Panthers used all three goalies during the game. Sophomore Mike Rodrick (Plaistow, N.H.) started and made five saves in the first half, and freshman Steve Valeri (Chelmsford, Mass.) and senior Tim McNamara (West Lebanon, N.H.) combined for eight saves in the second half.
PSU plays a scrimmage against the University of South Florida on Thursday before returning to New England for its next official game on Tuesday, Mar. 30, at Wheaton (4:00 p.m.).
